Reading ability power before you invest age or mutations

This tool answers a practical question: if I age this pet, mutate it, or spend a toy/sprinkler slot, how does relative ability power move? It does not replace in-game ability tooltips. Live passives are species-specific text (hatch speed, mutation auras, sell buffs). The calculator outputs a comparable power score so you can rank setups for the same pet—or compare two pets at the same age and gear—before you commit grind time or trade capital.

Inputs the calculator actually uses

  • Pet — loads species hatch weight, rarity, tier, and ability blurb from the roster. Tier maps to a fixed base power (S 100, A 78, B 58, C 42, D 28, F 18). That base is a site index, not a hidden number printed in Roblox.
  • Age — slider from 1 to 125. Weight at the chosen age uses the shared curve W = (hatchWeight ÷ 11) × (age + 10). Grandmaster Sprinkler adds +4 kg to hatch weight before that curve runs.
  • Growth mutation — choose one of Normal, Silver (×1.15), Golden (×1.35), or Rainbow (×1.6). Only one growth option applies.
  • Special mutations — optional tags (Shocked, Ember, Tranquil, Ascended, Tiny, and others). Their multipliers multiply together with the growth factor. Tiny is a reduction; stacking several strong specials compounds quickly.
  • Boosts — Small/Medium/Large Toy add +10% / +20% / +30% passive to the final score. Toys stack with each other as summed percentages. Sprinkler is weight-only, not a passive percent.

How to interpret the score (and its limits)

Scaled power is tierBase × ageScale × weightScale × mutationMultiplier × (1 + passiveBoost). Age scale is (age + 10) / 110 (clamped to max age 125), so age 50 is roughly 55% of the age-100 reference and age 100 is 1.0. Weight scale is 1 + log₁₀(weight) × 0.12, so kilograms matter, but less than mutations or toys. Classification badges use the pet's hatch weight thresholds (Small through Colossal), not the aged display weight.

Treat the number as relative decision support. A Cicada at age 75 with Rainbow + Ember can outscore a same-species Normal pet at age 100 even when both look “maxed” in chat. The stage table (ages 1, 10, 25, 50, 75, 100, 125) shows where the curve steepens so you can stop grinding once the next jump is not worth the XP. Power will not match every in-game percentage on every passive—those values change per patch and per ability—so confirm tooltip text before listing a pet as “calc verified.”

A short decision process

  1. Pick the pet (or open a shared link like ?pet=capybara) and set the age you can actually reach.
  2. Add only mutations and boosts you own or can buy; do not model a fantasy stack you will never equip.
  3. Read ability power at current age, then scan the stage table for the next milestone where power jumps enough to justify more XP.
  4. If two pets compete for one roster slot, compare them at the same age and gear, then check role fit in ability search and hatch class in the pet weight calculator.
  5. After balance patches, re-run popular species—ability text and relative value move even when this scaling model stays fixed. Use changelog for timing, then verify the live tooltip.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the pet ability calculator show?

It estimates scaled ability power at each age stage based on pet tier, weight, pet mutations, and passive boosts like toys.

Use it alongside the pet weight calculator to verify hatch weight and classification before trading high-value pets.

How do pet mutations affect abilities?

Growth mutations (Silver, Golden, Rainbow) set a base multiplier. Special mutations stack multiplicatively — Ember, Tranquil, Shocked, and others each apply their own factor.

Tiny reduces power; Ascended and JUMBO are among the strongest special modifiers in current meta testing.

What boosts can I apply?

Small Toy (+10%), Medium Toy (+20%), and Large Toy (+30%) passive boosts stack with mutations. Grandmaster Sprinkler adds +4 kg weight instead of a passive percent.

Weight from sprinklers affects the weight-based portion of ability scaling.

Why don't numbers match my game exactly?

Ability scaling varies per pet passive and patch balance. Our model uses tier base power and community-tested curves — always confirm in-game for trades.

Report mismatches on the contact page with pet name, age, and screenshot.

Which pets should I check first?

Use Quick Start for Cicada, Newt, Fire Wisp, Shroomie, Capybara, and Kitsune — the most traded and patched pets in June 2026.

Search all pets in the pet ability search tool by keyword like ember or tranquil.

Can I share a pet preset?

Link to /pet-ability-calculator?pet=capybara (or any slug) to pre-select that pet for friends or Discord trades.

Combine with /pet-weight-calculator for full trade evaluation.
