Calculated Value Is Not the Same as Market Value

Grow a Garden uses exact numbers for crop sale prices, while player trades also reflect scarcity, demand, age, utility, and confidence in the item being offered. This page keeps those two questions separate. The crop tool estimates a harvest's Sheckle output; the WFL tool compares two totals after you have decided what each non-crop item is reasonably worth.

How to build a defensible crop total

Begin with the crop's stored base value and exact harvested weight. Weight is squared, so an estimate that is only slightly wrong can noticeably change the result. Choose one growth variant, then add compatible environmental mutations. In the original game, environmental values are combined inside a bracket rather than multiplied one by one. Finally, apply the friend boost and quantity.

Write down each line separately when an offer contains several crops. This makes it possible to identify the single item causing a disagreement instead of arguing over an unexplained grand total. Screenshots should show weight and mutation icons; names alone do not establish a harvest's calculated value.

How to assess pets and limited items

Pets do not have a universal NPC cash formula comparable to crops. Start with species utility and availability, then inspect age, current weight, estimated hatch weight, and ability relevance. Limited supply may raise demand, but rarity should not be treated as a guaranteed price. Recent completed trades are more useful than an isolated asking price because listings can remain unsold.

Reading the WFL result responsibly

The checker labels a trade from the totals entered by the user. It cannot verify those totals or predict future demand. A numerical Fair can still be a poor fit if you are giving an easy-to-trade pet for several slow-moving collectibles. Conversely, a small numerical Loss may be reasonable when the item received completes a strategy or is easier to trade later.

1. Calculate crops from their exact weight and mutations.
2. Estimate pets from comparable recent trades, not rarity alone.
3. Separate stable utility from temporary event hype.
4. Check serials and visible stats before accepting.
5. Use the WFL percentage as evidence, not as an instruction.
