Grow a Garden Radish

Radish is the dig you plant when seed risk must stay near zero — a common 19-base root that finishes fast enough to teach weight² before you burn fertilizer on rarer vegetables.

Base value

Radish value by weight

Radish has a base value of 19 Sheckles at unit weight. Because sale value scales with weight squared, the table below shows the raw sell and the same crop with Golden or Rainbow growth applied at common harvest weights.

Radish sell value at different weights and growth mutations
WeightRaw (no mutation)+ Golden (20×)+ Rainbow (50×)

10 kg1.9K38K95K

Mutations & weather

Short cycles favor cheap environmental padding such as Wet (×2) during rain. Growth still allows only one slot — Golden (×20) for practice payouts, or Verdant (×7) if that is what lands first. Do not hold Wet hoping to add Frozen later; those tags conflict.

Farming loop

Keep one or two radish tiles as a live kilogram laboratory. Plant, fertilize, dig, check the crop value calculator, and replant. Skip blizzard camping on this crop — maturity is too short to justify Frozen risk when the lesson is weight, not env theater.

Radish strategy

Calibration roots before real seed budgets

Carrot and potato teach related dig habits, but radish’s 19 base makes mis-sells cheap. Use it to confirm your pets and sprinklers actually move kilograms before you expand turnip or potato beds.

If your digs stall under 6 kg, fix fertilizer and pathing here. Moving to higher bases without fixing that ceiling only hides the same problem behind a bigger seed cost.

When radish should leave the main bed

Once turnip at 21 base and potato at 22 base hit your target kilograms reliably, radish’s hourly ceiling becomes the bottleneck. Keep a single calibration tile if you like, and move bulk fertilizer to the higher commons.

Trade chat rarely prices common radish. Sell for liquidity and treat the crop as practice gear, not a listing headline.

Common questions

Why farm radish when turnip base is higher?
Radish finishes faster and fails cheaper. Use it to verify kilogram habits; switch to turnip once your digs already clear the same weight floor.
Is Golden worth chasing on radish?
Only after the root is heavy. Golden on 10 kg beats Shocked on a 2 kg practice dig — weight first, then the single growth slot.
